Dry mounting is a permanent mounting process for art prints, posters, and other paper-based pieces. Artwork is glued to a mounting board using heat and pressure. The standard mounting board is usually foam core, but other mounting boards are available.

A lot of people ask how dry mounting works. A tissue adhesive is placed between the art and the mounting board, inserted into a vacuum press and heated up to activate the adhesive while the press applies pressure. This process is highly recommended for rolled art mediums or posters that have wrinkles, creases, or if the final product should be flat in appearance. Dry mounting is not recommended for expensive pieces where retaining value is the primary goal.
