A more affordable yet still exceptionally high quality alternative to 100% cotton, Winsor & Newton Classic Pads contains paper which is cellulose wood pulp paper. This watercolor paper will not warp or cockle even when saturated with large volumes of water. Multiple layers of paint can therefore be applied to create more depth. The Winsor & Newton Classic Pad may withstand the roughest of editing techniques and colors remain brilliant and intense, even when dry.
Cold Pressed – Cold pressed paper has a less textured finish and is the most widely used paper surface. This paper often produces the brightest watercolor paintings because its increased surface area holds more color and therefore reflects more light.
